Day 1 : Kathmandu (1300m) to Lhasa ( 3650m)
The one-hour flight to Lhasa is an adventure in itself. Taking off from Kathmandu, the plane flies alongside the eastern Himalayas as far as Mt. Everest and then turns north with gigantic snow peaks filling up the left-hand side windows. The mountains drop away and you are gliding across the barren Tibetan plateau to touch down at Gonggar Airport, 85 km from Lhasa. (Kathmandu 1300 mt, Lhasa 3600 mt). Arrive Gonggar airport and transfer to Lhasa. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2 : Explore fabled Lhasa city.
Explore Lhasa city which is dominated by the fabled Potala Palace. The palace of the Dalai Lama, a treasure of Tibetan culture, was till 1965.
Visit Norbulingka - Treasure Park, the summer palace of Dalai Lama built in 18th century. Biggest man-made garden in Tibet. It reflects the ethnical, religious features of the Tibetan people and embodies the architecture style of inland China. It is of great cultural value and was listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2001 as an extension of Potala Palace. Overnight at Guest House or Hotel.
Day 3 : Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Bazaar.
Visit one of the largest monasteries in the world, Drepung Monastery on the outskirts of the city. Built in 1419, was once Tibet's largest and most influential monastery, with over 10,000 monks. Drepung is especially known as the site of the annual Shoton Festival, with its dramatic unfurling of a giant thangka painting on the hillside.
Pilgrims from across Tibet, many of whom have walked hundreds of kilometres to see the Jokhang once in their lives, queue for hours to enter the temple and perform a ritual circuit in prostration of its many sacred shrines.
Visit Barkhor Bazar (Barkhor : 800m flagstone) out side of the Jokhang Monastery to experience Tibetan chatting, Tibetan people selling tibetan heart- prayer flags, block prints of the holy scriptures, earrings, Tibetan boots, Nepalese biscuits, puffed rice, yak butter and incense. Overnight at Guest House or Hotel.
Day 4 : Lhasa to Kathmandu.
Transfer to Gongar Airport and fly back to Kathmandu.
