Ama Dablam Expedition
Mount Ama Dablam, arguably the most beautiful mountain in the Khumbu Region (south of Mt. Everest) stands at a staggering 6,856 m. It dominates the skyline with its colossal body covered with fleece white snow and looks unforgiving because of its jagged ridges. For many trekkers, the view of Ama Dablam is more stunning than Everest itself. Needless to say, Ama Dablam is always looked upon with a biased view owing to its beauty and majesty. For many mountaineers (including the famed Sherpa climbers), an expedition to conquer Ama Dablam requires technical prowess and perfection. According to experts, almost all climbs across other parts of the Himalayas become a shade easier if you have tried your hand at Ama Dablam. The ascent begins at the SW ridge route which has three camps above base camp. The climb can be completed within 4 weeks but it depends largely on weather conditions. The ascent requires rock climbing on pure granite followed by snow. The last portion of the climb becomes a little difficult because it involves ice climbing and conquering a steep snow slope. But summiting Mt. Ama Dablam has many rewards. Apart from the exhilaration of conquering one of the most tallest and difficult mountains in the world, the top of Ama Dablam provides you with exquisite views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Makalu and Mt. Gauri Shankar along with 86 peaks of the Himalayas. You can also see clearly, the Sagarmatha National Park and the Barun National Park. A spectacular view of the Tibetan Plateau is also visible from the top.
